I Dare You: Homemade Weed Lube

cannabis lube

I just want to take a second to thank all of you who have sent emails helping me locate lost posts from the deleted site. You guys are seriously the best. I’ve got almost all of them back together and will be posting them as I have time to update the site. I also have so much new stuff to share (a decarboxylation tutorial, 3 types of cannabis tinctures, an amazing marijuana salve,  the NEW and improved DIY Sprayable Weed Lube (like Foria).

Before the Wake & Bake site got deleted, this was far and away the most popular new post, which is not at all shocking.

This stuff is like gold in our house (used it this morning) and the very first time we tested this batch that you see in these here photographs, the farmer and I created our first baby nugget.

So be careful… This shit is baby makin’ good.

So we made this stuff, tested it (the way you test this kind of thing) and I ran away to Thailand by myself a couple of weeks later without a clue.

Peeing on a pregnancy test in Thailand…

in a run down hostel by yourself…

on a street lined with lady boy prostitutes…

and realizing that you made a baby testing weed lube?

Priceless.

I’m not sure if it’s fitting that my formal internet pregnancy announcement is going on this weed lube post, but it feels so right. Much like this weed lube.

So, without further ado…

Homemade Weed Lube

This whole cannabis lube thing started when I received a call from a wonderful woman who wanted to ask some questions about some of the baking temperatures in Wake & Bake. One thing led to another and she eventually asked if I’d ever used cannabis coconut oil on my lady parts.

Foria had just been released, and all over the internet, articles were popping up with titles like: 8 Things to Know About Getting Your Vagina High [The Frisky] and I Tried That Cannabis Lube and Got High as a Horney Kite [Cosmo] and even I Got My Pussy Stoned with Weed Lube [You’re the best, Vice]. I was like, “Whhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? I want some of that.”

weed lube

Then I saw that Foria was only available in California, and that it costs $88/bottle (for 30 servings), and I was like “Whaaaaaaaaaaat? Maybe I’ll make my own someday.”

And then I pretty much forgot all about it.

Then, this awesome lady called me (because if you have the first edition of the cookbook, you’ve got my number), and dared me to use my canna oil as lube. She said, “I dare you” and I did it because I’m not chicken. About 20 minutes later, something magical was happening.

So I’ll start out this post by saying that if you already have some cannabis coconut oil, you already have cannabis lube. Just go to town. You’ll feel it more if it’s the only form of marijuana that you’re using at the time, but you’ll notice a difference either way. There you have it! Voila! Weed lube! But…

I couldn’t just stop there. I had to take this weed lube thing to the next level and make something that was edible, slick, and long-lasting with some aromatherapy tossed in for the hell of it.

Nailed it.

This “Love Butter” can be used as cannabis lube, massage oil or as a pain-relieving salve. It’s whipped, so it has an incredible texture to it and it melts quickly in your palm creating a slippery surface that doesn’t need to be re-applied constantly.

It takes about 10-30 minutes to start really feeling it, so you can do a little prep by applying it to yourself ahead of time, or you can get your lover to give you a massage while you wait for it to take effect.

If you’re wondering what using Weed Lube feels like, the ladies at Vice and Cosmo are much less shy about talking about their lady bits on the internet than I am, so go there for more detailed experiences with weed lube.

But… ahem… Ladies… I will say that your vagina can in fact get high. If you have issues with your lady parts (pain during sex, tightness, insensitivity or underwhelming experiences in general), I really suggest trying this therapeutically and see if it doesn’t change your relationship with sexual relations.

I’ll also say that, on the recreational side, it’s just an incredible experience. And by the by, this stuff is also a nice, muscle relaxing massage oil… but I’ll get to that later.

magical butter

I made a big batch of this cannabis lube in the Magical Butter machine so I could experiment with different essential oils and techniques. Out of the big batch, here’s what we really loved:

  • Most loved essential oil: Ylang Ylang.
  • Best technique: Whipping it after it cooled a bit.
  • Best application: Keep it in the fridge. About a half hour before “grownup time”, spoon a bit out and… this may sound weird… but get it all up in there. Hang out/make out for at least 15-20 before starting “grownup time” and reapply as needed during “grownup time”. This technique really increases sensitivity in your hidden places.

Whew! I am such a puritan that I almost didn’t make it through that.

Weed Lube Recipe

1. In a Crockpot or MB Machine, combine:

2 Cups Unrefined Shea Butter or Cocoa Butter (both are edible, Cocoa Butter tastes better… also, these Cocoa Butter Wafers are much easier to work with and are cheaper for some reason…)

1/2 Cup Cannabis Infused Coconut Oil

1/2 Cup Sunflower or Grapeseed Oil (can also use Jojoba, but it’s not edible in large amounts)

2. If using a crockpot, keep it on warm/low for 1-2 hours, stirring occasionally.

2b. If using a Magical Butter, press the 160° button and the 2 Hr Butter button, and walk away.

3. Pour the oil into a large mixing bowl (or into a couple of smaller mixing bowls if you’d like to try using different essential oils). Add:

A few drops of Essential Oils per cup of lube: Jasmine, Sweet Orange, or Ylang Ylang

4. When it begins to solidify, get out your beaters and whip the weed lube until it’s smooth and luscious (yes… fucking luscious).

5. Spoon your amazing homemade weed lube into shallow glass jars or 4 oz salve tins. Label and store in the fridge, out of reach of children and pets. Not intended for use with condoms as the oil can degrade the latex and cause condoms to break.

Note: You can make a smaller batch of this in a double boiler on the stove or in your crockpot. The recipe is simple and easy to divide if you don’t want to use a lot of material trying out weed lube.

If you’re itching to upgrade to an MB machine, you can get $30 off by following this link and using the code wakeandbake. I recommend the MB2 if you regularly make batches of oil that are over 2 cups and if you make a variety of products like tinctures, salves and oils… but I’ll get to that later too [update: I actually finally got to that!].

Using this Weed Lube for Topical Pain Management

So, I mentioned that this lube is also a great massage oil and pain-relieving salve and I wanted to talk about the wonders of topical treatments. Using cannabis topically is a great way to relieve pain without experiencing any of the psychoactive effects of marijuana. Another fun fact? You can use marijuana on your skin as localized pain relief without testing positive on a drug test (but apparently, you can test positive if you have cuts, wounds, burns or get it into your mouth or into your vajayjay). You can always quit your job and write a cannabis cookbook like the rest of us who wanted to avoid drug testing 😉

Topical treatments are my favorite way to treat pain in my lower back and shoulders. I love that I can just rub it on and be pain free and clear headed all day.

To use this weed lube for topical pain management, just rub it on the affected area until you feel relief. Apply throughout the day as needed.

I know you’ve got questions… Lay ‘em on me…

Much Love,

Corinne

Hi. I just made coconut oil! It’s great!
In the beginning of the weed lube recipe, you write that it is possible to use just the oil in the lady parts as it would have the same effect as the weed lube.
Here comes my question: how much should be applied?

      Hi Tyge,

That’s a great question! My oil usually turns out to be around 30 mg a tsp. So I’d start there, let it chill for 30 minutes and add more if needed.

      Hope that helps!

      Much love,

Beautiful site and beautiful post! I was wondering, though… I’ve read a few articles that say coconut oil is no good for the inside of your vagina, and in a past experience plain coconut oil has caused some vague discomfort (but that could just be in my head after reading the article that says don’t do it haha). What’s your take on this?

    Hi Corrine,

Sorry, I just thought of one more question, do you have a favorite strain you like to use in your lube? I personally lean toward sativas, but I would love to hear your experiences (without getting too personal, I definitely respect your privacy) with trying sativas versus indicas versus hybrids, or even blends of multiple strains.

    Thank you so much!

    Hi Corrine,

The first part of this post says to use 1/2 cup coconut oil and the second part says to use a full cup. Just wondering which measurement you prefer. Also, I know that a standard for edibles is 10 mg thc per serving, can you estimate how much thc is in a tablespoon of your lotion?

Thank you so much for posting recipes and sharing your passion!

Does the absorption rate and time differ if at all, when the weed is used as a lube as opposed to eating the oil?
This has been enormously helpful thank you.

Personally, the lube was faster as opposed to eating it, but it’s a totally different feeling so it’s hard to judge. I’d give the lube 30 minutes to kick in 😉

    Hi Corrine,
I’m about to give this recipe a go, do you think using leaf would work?
Also, I make a lot of cannabis oil with leaf (RSO), could this be used somehow instead? Maybe infused into the coconut oil then whipped up?
    Cheers

Hi Ange! Using the RSO would probably be your best bet. I’ve never used leaf, so I can’t be sure, but it seems like you would need an awful lot of it to make it potent. I can’t wait to hear how it goes!

Yes, using leaf, or trim works just as well, but you need to cook it for at least 8-12 hours at a very low temperature to saturate the oil sufficiently.

Hi, I use cannabis suppositories I’ve made with cocoa butter and a bit of coconut oil. They do not get me high. I feel nothing. I have read it’s the same with vaginal also. That rectally and vaginally there is no discernable affect due to it not passing through the liver. So what is it you all are feeling? Thanks

When you smoke weed it does not pass through your liver and you still get high from that. Really the thc just needs to be absorbed some way into your body.

Also, haven’t tried this recipe yet, so I’m unsure of how well the coco+cocoa butter deal is going to work, but i can say while not horrible, coconut oil hasn’t been the best option

I doubt ZS is planning on using enough vanilla extract to hurt herself. It’s a pretty tiny amount for a fairly large amount of oil. I wouldn’t worry too much.

Hi Corrine! First off, I am loving this website! It’s freaking amazing. Secondly, I have a question about CBD vaginal suppositories. I was diagnosed with Endometriosis in Dec 2015 and since that time my pelvic pain has been nonstop everyday. I’ve been using topicals and vapes practically every day, but recently a doctor who specializes in treating endo recommended weed vaginal suppositories. I know Foria sells them on their website, but for only 4 products its $44, which isn’t super cost effective for me as a tight budget student with chronic pain. I’ve been thinking about making my own so I can have more options to choose from, but I haven’t been successful in finding recipes. In your opinion, would it be OK to use the weed lube as a kind of replacement, or would it be possible to make my own or get a recipe from you? I super appreciate all your recipes and postings, they are very helpful to a novice like me! Your awesome!

I’ve also found that it’s not strong enough/doesn’t really work. Do you think it would work to re-melt down and add more cannabis oil and then re-whip it?

I’ve only tried mine once, and while my lady parts did seem to experience some more intense sensations (not so extreme as to be certain it was weed-related), I did not notice any other effects. A few people noted that the recipe calls for 1/2 cup of coconut oil in one place and 1 cup in another. I only see one recipe, which is obviously the one I followed, which calls for 1/2 cup. I’m also wondering about melting it down and adding more coconut oil… Please advise!

    Hey Corinne
I am sure ur a busy person but I have made your faux-ria recipe and was wondering if I would be able to use the oil in this recipe and make the butter ? The only different ingredient is the sunflower lecithin and I don’t know how that would effect this recipe. Thank you hope to hear back from you !

    Hi Corrine!

So a few months ago I started to have clitoral pain. You heard me right! After a few doctors appointments I was diagnosed with clitorodynia, which is related to vulvodynia. Of course since this is a female issue of pain, and related to female sexual pleasure there is little if any research. The treatments available are also hit or miss, but something struck me when I was doing my own research. Sometimes this pain is caused by extreme muscle tension in the pelvic floor that ends up compressing the nerves that innervate the vagina, and in my case the clitoris. So it got me thinking about THC, and its amazing muscle relaxing properties. Of course I do not live in Colorado so I had to figure out how to make a THC infused lubricant myself, when I came across your website. I want to give you a HUGE THANK YOU. Not only does this lube enhance female pleasure it also has rendered me nearly pain free. I am not saying this is the solution for every woman who has vaginal pain, but I am saying it worked wonders for me, and that I think it is worth a try for other women who are having similar issues.

I’ve made a variation of weed lube that my wife and I just love. I make body butters for gifts and occasional sale with beeswax from my bees (facebook.com/thesecondgarden, brewandbees.blogspot.com). But the weed body butter is just for us and select friends! The aroma itself is so soothing, and makes the best massage lotion. Thank you for giving me the idea!

I’ve been using a combination of cacao butter and coconut oil as lube for several years now. We will be moving to a weed friendly state next year and I’m really looking forward to trying this!

Does anyone have any experience with coconut oil getting left in their vagina, the oil going rancid and causing infection? I read this could happen and have been hesitant to use oil based lubes for this reason.

I am Kenneth from Chicago; I want to share my story of effective CBD Oil use. Actually, when I first heard of CBD Oil, I was in doubt of its potency. I have read testimonies of its cure for cancer, seizures, epilepsy, arthritis Prostate enlargement, anxiety and other ailments that have defiled western medication.

I was scared of trying it for my anxiety, because I felt it might have (THC) psychoactive effect on me. And didn’t know how legal it is in the State. But I was willing to try because I have had my health issue of anxiety and other complications resulting from prescribed drugs for long time and I needed a cure badly.

I went to the internet in search, of CBD Oil and CBD products without THC or psychoactive effect for my ailment. Fortunately for me, I read of Pence CBD Oil and CBD products which the person that shared the testimony said it is THC free. I contacted Pence, to my joy; it turned out to be true and also cured my health complications. I want to recommend Pence CBD Oil and products for those who might need THC free products.
